Phlebotomy (from the Greek words phlebo-, meaning "pertaining to a blood vessel", and -tomia, meaning "cutting of") is the process of making an incision in a vein with a needle. Phlebotomists collect blood for donation or for testing, so the blood can be analysed in a clinical laboratory. Blood tests are used to diagnose illness, evaluate the effectiveness of medications and determine whether a patient is receiving proper nutrition.

At Radiant Balance we offer a Phlebotomy service to our patients as well as to private patients of various laboratories in the UK to anyone 18 years or older.

Once you have ordered and received you test kit, please check the packaging and see whether the sample requires the following:

  • To be done in a fasting state (most tests require this so please confirm whether yours does as you will need to stop eating at 10pm the night before and have nothing but water before the test)
  • Requires a centrifuge (check under phlebotomy instructions for this)
